When Starting the RG Software, Receive Multiple Errors and the Application Crashes

Issue:

When starting the RG software, the following cascade of error messages appears and the application crashes:

"Graph control: GSW.EXE & GSWDLL.DLL version mismatch"

"Reliability Growth: Can't load Custom Control DLL: C:\RG\GRAPHX.VBX"

"Reliability Growth: Unexpected error; Quitting"

Solution:

RG was designed as a 16-bit application, and followed a convention of storing libraries under its own directory (i.e. the convention in Windows 3.1). Using this scheme, if another program installed an older version of these libraries in the Windows\System directory (which is the new convention in 32-bit Windows applications like Windows 95, 98, NT, etc.), RG will not find the libraries it requires. The solution is to copy all files from the RG directory that start with the letter G (G*.*) to your Windows\System directory. You will more than likely have older versions of these libraries. If the date stamp on the ones in the RG directory is newer than the one in the Windows\System directory, replace the files in the Windows\System directory.
